Whole Family Whole30 Wk4

We're nearing the end of our first 30 days of the Whole 30 plan. We've made some allowances and adjustments this week for the children. Their bodies seem to be craving more food than before, so we've had to replenish our snack foods of bananas, apples and pears more than usual. My husband and I did treat ourselves to some Coconut Milk Ice Cream and store bought kefir/kombucha soda. Overall it's been a really great plan and we hope to make it a regular eating strategy. I think the only times we'll go off plan is when it comes to visiting others or being away from home during meal time. All week we were sick with a cold/cough that never wanted to let go. However, we stuck to our good foods, stayed positive by supporting each other, and lost more weight.

Things we talked about with the kids this week was what they missed most. We hoped we could find new recipes to accommodate for what we felt was getting left out or being craved. Most common was quick foods such as PB&J sandwiches, Breakfast Cereal, Cow's Milk and Cheese.
*We learned that cheese can be addicting for a good, scientific reason!
*We decided the kids could try cow's milk again if they really didn't enjoy Almond Milk.
*We found a recipe for Cinnamon Apple Cereal that was compliant to Whole30.
*Our Costco finally stocked Almond Butter at a price we could afford to use regularily.

 

Our Whole Family Whole30 Meal Plan (here) gave me good ideas for our fourth week. I found most of the recipes using Pinterest and my own recipes. Yet, finally at a point where I'm making my own versions or creating without looking at the recipe. [Print Week 4 Menu Here]

*Made the breading w Coconut Flour, and do not recommend it. It was VERY dry and powdery. The rice was the same kind of texture and color making it a very bland choice. Add some greens and use almond flour.
