Prepper's Pantry Beef Soup

There are a few items in my long term storage pantry that haven't been through the usual use and replace process. Since the pandemic,  these items have reached expiration and need to be utilized.  So for a few meals a week we are eating meals we anticipated would help us in a time of possible inflation,  famine, power outage or disaster.

This week I made a basic beef soup from canned beef,  dehydrated vegetable soup,  beef bouillon, water, ancient grains and salt. I must say it went over well with the whole family,  and the leftovers are just as good.

Ingredients per 2 servings

1 can Beef (pint)

2 tsp Better than Bouillon* in beef or veg

2.5 C water, hot

1/4 C Dehydrated Vegetable Soup

opt. 1/2 C grains, precooked

salt to taste

Cook in pot over stove or campfire until vegetables and grains are desired tenderness and rehydration. Works in a slow cooker or instapot. It's that easy.

If adding grains uncooked,  account for extra water needed.  If you have any saltines, that would work with or instead of the grains (rice, ancient,  oats,  barley).

*Any beef or vegetable bouillon with water,  or broth will do.
